Winter Mediocrity

For some reason, this time of year just gets to me. I don't feel like doing schoolwork, and just wish that the snow would disappear. I actually don't feel like doing anything but sleeping. That sounds so lazy of me, but it is entirely true. I am supposed to be researching debate right now, (that always seems to be the case, doesn't it?) but debate research never truly ends anyway. I know we will be ready for the tournament on Friday, but it seems like I will never stop researching. Blah. Not good. Hours and hours on the computer typing in things that don't produce results. All I can say is, I know that I am learning a lot from debate, but I can't wait until summer vacation. I can picture it now: me, sitting on the beach, with a book I have been longing to read for ages, with no interruptions. Wow, how nice that will be. Only 4 1/2 months until my dream finally comes true.

Suits are just plain amazing!

I just noticed something today. A lot of my favorite actors look nice in suits, as in clean cut, or cool.

Wow, what a week...

Yesterday was my first round-robin for debate. This means that we have a mini debate tournament. I was hoping that we wouldn't have to debate negative, but unfortunately the schedule was worked so that my fear became reality. Now, I happen to know that we ended up winning our round, but it was still very nerve-racking. I realized a few things: 1. I am really bad at impromptu speeches when I have nothing to back my points up 2. My partner is great at thinking up arguments quickly and sounding confident even if she isn't 3. I need to find a way to keep my voice from shaking.
I did get good comments about my William Wallace speech, though. That was great news. Now all I have to do is memorize it really quickly.
Maybe we will get to watch 3:10 to Yuma or Braveheart tonight.

WHY SO SERIOUS???

Today, was very sad for me. This is going to sound really dumb when I say what I am upset about, but oh well. Everyone probably knows now that Heath Ledger died today. Although I disagreed with some of his movies, I enjoyed most of his roles. I will forever remember William- from A Knight's Tale, Gabriel- from The Patriot, and The Joker- from The Dark Knight, even though I haven't seen the full film yet. This is really depressing, because Heath was only 28, and I doubt that he ever turned to God in light of his problems. What will happen to his little girl? It makes me feel really drained when a young person dies, and reminds me of how quickly life can be taken away from us. This gives us all a chance to look at what we are prioritizing in our lives, and how we can really change the world-only through Jesus Christ.

We will miss you Heath. :(

why do people like John McCain so much?

Yesterday, Nevada and South Carolina had their primaries. I am very stoked and relieved that Mitt Romney won Nevada. However, I am utterly disappointed and otherwise feeling ill that John McCain won South Carolina.
John McCain does not deserve to call himself a Republican or a Conservative. His proposed immigration bill, McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Bill, and his views on Global Warming (It doesn't exist!!!) forever marr his candidacy in my opinion.
Mike Huckabee is excellent on life issues and other social things, but his policies on the economy/finance stink. He also seems to put forth the view of a "nanny state" where the government gives you everything that you need.
Fred Thompson is endorsed by Human Events, which I don't understand. He lacks the...what should I call it..."oomph" needed to convince the American people that he is qualified to be their Commander-in-chief. Everyone thought that he won the last debate, but I beg to differ. Thompson- since he has not won a primary yet, and will not win Florida in real life or anyone's wildest dreams- is just stealing votes from other candidates that can actually win. Mr. Thompson, I think the best you can hope for is a vice-presidency run.
Now, I cannot say enough good things about Mitt Romney. He is the president that America needs right now. If the Republican party is looking for the "second Ronald Reagan," I think that this is their best bet. Romney is good on life, immigration, terrorism, the economy, and tax cuts as well. The one thing I would change about him is his Mormonism, but even with that factor, he is the best candidate.
Now we are all waiting for that Florida primary that is a major deciding factor. Giuliani hopes to win there, but I think the real race will be between Huckabee, McCain, and Romney.

another relatively uneventful saturday

This is my first post ever! I never thought I would start a blog, because I always thought that they were kind of stupid. I guess it feels good to put my thoughts down, even if no one else ever reads this. That is okay with me.

Really, I am supposed to be working on a debate case right now. Campaign finance reform can get boring every once in a while. I wish I had something interesting to write about right now, but I don't, so I guess I will try again later.

Oh, actually I did do something interesting today. One of Sanctus Real's independent records was on ebay today, and I bought it! Yeah!
