Tons of stuff can happen in less than a week!

I have time for a quick post before class. A few things have happened in the world that are interesting to either cheer or vent about.

1) The new Dark Knight trailer came out. Here is a link: http://thedarkknight.warnerbros.com/ If that doesn't work for you, try yahoo.com in the movies section. This is a really cool trailer that gives a little more footage of The Joker. Very cool. (and as a side note, there is also a new Indy 4 trailer. This trailer is also great.)

2) Obama won NC, and Clinton won IN. I don't really know what to make of this. Will Hillary drop out, stay in, or suck up to Obama in hopes for a vice presidential run? Personally, I think that Obama and Hillary hate eachother's guts. But with the Clintons, you can never know the future.

3) The Cavs did obliterate the Wizards like I knew they would. Wally Szczerbiak is once again my hero.

4) The Cavs lost the first game to Boston. I really don't understand basketball strategy completely yet, so I can't comment too much on this game. Both teams played great defense and pretty abysmal offense. Please, let's move on to Game 2 so I don't have to recap the gory details of the loss.

5) I am nearly finished with Physics, and hope to complete before the weekend is over.

For now, that is it. I have to get to Great Books Class. Only one more week of online classes!

Whoops!

I didn't ever post the tournament results like I promised. Sorry.

So, to catch up, Megan and I went 5-1 in the preliminary rounds at the Bay Village tournament. We found out that we were actually in a semi-final round vs. Paul Miller and Rachel Shoff, who are two really nice people from our club. Neither Megan, Rachel, Paul, or me thought that we were doing well enough to be in the semifinals. Paul and Rachel beat us making our record 5-2. We didn't really have any evidence, and that was our downfall. Their case is a comparative advantage case which is really hard to defend against, because it acknowledges that the status quo is doing well, but could be improved upon. I am currently getting some evidence in case we have to go against them at Cedarville. My speech events were kind of mediocre this time. I am going to practice a lot more next week. But debate was so surprising. 3 Cleveland teams were in the semifinals. We totally dominated. And the fact that Megan and I are novices this year blew everyone away. We beat Joe Griffith and Elliot Gaiser, who are one of the best debate teams in CCA. But, I am trying not to get ahead of myself. We still have one more tournament to go.

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday, so we are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate. And the Cavs are going to obliterate the Wizards tonight at 7:00. We'll see how it goes.

Uh..I forgot a picture of the week. Hold on...here we go.
1. Aragorn and Gandalf...duh!
2. Probably my favorite Lord of the Rings photo. Completely captures the character of Aragorn.

Disappointed...

Why is it that every time I have get to watch the FULL Cavs playoff game, they lose?!?!?!? Tonight was so disappointing. But let's please get this straight. Tonight's loss was in no way, shape, or form Coach Mike Brown's fault. He did absolutely nothing wrong that caused major game problems. A lot of people are claiming he is a bad coach. Not true. Simply false. I can't be emphatic enough on this point. Things the Cavs need to fix.:

1) Stop Anderson Varejao from taking stupid drives to the basket that he knows he can NEVER score off of. That is not what AV is for.
2) Cut down on the turnovers. Don't be lazy with passes, make sure you make easy layups (sorry Wally, I just had to mention that), and concentrate while dribbling.
3) Make LeBron drive more. He was never a top-notch outside shooter. LeBron, you don't have to be afraid. You are WAY bigger than those guys. Good job on the Free Throws, though.
4) Stop Caron Butler. Foul him hard when he tries to drive.
5) Smash DeShawn Stevonson when he starts acting like a jerk.
6) Make sure all of the point guards/forwards make their jumpshots. In other words, make the Field Goal % go way up.

That is it for now.

What a great quote!

Senator John McCain could never convince me to vote for him. Only Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama can cause me to vote for McCain."--Thomas Sowell

This quote rings so true. Even though I cannot vote in the 2008 election, it is still extremely important to me. And I agree wholeheartedly with Thomas Sowell. I do not want John McCain in office. But unfortunately, he is my only choice. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both disgust me so much that I must support McCain in order to keep them far, far away from the White House. I disagree with John McCain on many issues, but Obama and Clinton's stands make me retch. Thanks Ann Coulter for finding this for me!

Well, that is all for now. I will post tournament comments and also words about the Cavs success in recent days.

Well...it was sort of anticlimatic...but I still had fun.

Dinner was amazing. I had butternut squash ravioli with a butter sauce and sliced tomatoes. And an amazing chocolate dessert. It was a "chocolate bag" filled with cake, whipped cream, and fruit. Very good.

The game...was not what I expected. The media was amazing. The intro video was really well made, and the effects like the pyrotechnic stuff was really cool. But, LeBron and Z didn't play! I can't believe I have been working myself up for this for quite a few months. Well, it is ok. I know that I will be able to go to a game next year. Hopefully Zydrunas, LeBron, and Sasha will all be playing. The Cavs ultimately lost, but it didn't matter for playoff standings. Wally Szczerbiak is now my hero. He was the only one making decent shots. Way to go Wally! And of course, I had to have a stop at the souveneir shop. I got a LBJ (LeBron) magnet, a Cavs logo magnet, a 07-08 media guide, and a cool Cavs t-shirt.

And today...round robin was ACTUALLY A SUCCESS! I cannot believe it. I usually do abysmally in round robins. But we won both affirmative rounds. And I now know how to defend my case against Supreme Court arguments. Booyah! You don't even know how excited I am. I am surprised that I could come up with such an argument, yet elated that I can finally bash down other teams with my crowbar of an argument. Maybe I should stop talking because I am getting way too proud of myself.

Tournament tomorrow. Better go practice my speech.

Summer plans

So, I redesigned my blog yesterday...and ta dah! I don't ever get tired of William Wallace or Braveheart, I was just getting tired of those colors. So I found something that fits my mood more often. Thanks to Arwen the Webmaster at arwen-undomiel.com for the banners. Aragorn ROCKS!

Well, I am about to leave for the Cavs game, where LeBron and crew are going to demolish the Pistons!

I have a tournament this Friday and Saturday. Ughh. I am really sick of debate. Good news is that the season is almost over.

My summer plans...we just worked them out this week. First, I will be going to my Aunt Susan's beach house, and might end up taking the SAT in Delaware. Should be fun minus the SAT part. Then I will be going to my cousin's wedding, and maybe one day of Creation Festival. After that, a worldview conference in Colorado. Next camp/TST at SpringHill! Then I think I have a few weeks off before school. And most likely more stuff will be added to the list.

Bye for now! BEAT DETROIT! GO CAVS!!!

Cavs beat Philly!

I just realized that I haven't posted even once during April. I guess that I have had so much stuff going on.

Well, first I would like to discuss the Cavs' recent record. They won against the Sixers last night. That was great. Devin Brown was fouled with .2 seconds left on the clock. The Sixers all left for the locker room thinking that they had won the game. The refs reviewed the call, and decided that Devin had been fouled while shooting. They gave him two shots. The first tied the game. The second won it all for the Cavs! Sometimes it isn't even this intense in the playoffs! So now for the implications of this game. The Cavs are now locked in as the #4 seed. They will have the homecourt advantage in the series against the #5 Washington Wizards. This is really good. I am thinking that the Cavs will win this series, most likely playing Boston in the second round. But I am getting ahead of myself. We still have the Pistons game tomorrow, which has no playoff implications, but it will be my first Cavs game at the Q! I get to go see the Cavs tomorrow. I almost can't believe it. This will be one amazing game. Plus it is Fan Appreciation night, so we will get a lot of free stuff. I am really excited. Not to mention dinner at Fat Fish Blue, one of my favorite restaurants.

Well, that is all I can post right now, since I have to get back to Latin class. But I promise more to come later, maybe about more interesting topics. (meaning more interesting to you, because the Cavs are extremely interesting to me)

Here are a few pictures to help us remember the win against Philly.

#1 LeBron's reaction to his major 2nd quarter dunk.
#2 LeBron drives to the basket.
#3 Devin Brown's historic Free Throw that locked the Cavs in the 4th spot for the 07-08 playoffs. Thank you Devin!
The only bad thing about last night was that the Cavs were at one point 12 pts ahead, but they lost the lead. And also Sasha Pavlovic injured his ankle again. Sad day. Sasha is ALMOST my favorite. Probably number 3.
